Ukraine Cuts Off Electricity to Occupied Areas of Eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine’s state power company has cut electricity supplies to the parts of the Luhansk region that are controlled by Russian terrorists, citing huge debts.

Why did Ukraine cut electricity only now? Until recently, Ukraine had to “do business” with the terrorists since up to 50% of Ukrainian thermal power plants depend on the anthracite coal located on the occupied territories, and because some big Ukrainian businesses such as steel plants continued to operate on the occupied territories and even payed taxes to Ukraine.

Since January 2017, Ukrainian veterans and activists have been blocking coal trades with the terrorists. In March 2017, LPR and DPR gangs seized all Ukrainian businesses located on the occupied territories, and thus there became no reason to play charity with them anymore, so Ukraine has cut off electricity supplies to LPR for non-payment of bills. In fact, residents of the occupied territories kept paying for electricity, yet terrorists did not transfer this money to Ukraine. When Ukraine finishes building alternative electric lines to the areas adjacent to the occupied regions of Donetsk, DPR gang can be disconnected next.
